  • Depth: Plant at same depth as in shipping container. For a bareroot plant: Hold plant in hole, spread roots, plant crown 1 inch below soil; fill 1/2 way; compact soil; complete filling; compact soil; water well.

  • Pollinator: Self pollinating.
  • Yield: Approximately 1 - 2 quarts. Bears fruit in 2 years.

  • Fruit: Fruit is conical, dark attractive red, longer & wider in size than the traditional favorite 'Heritage'. Firm, yet juicy fruit has a superior, excellent sweet flavor.

  • Form: Small fruit, raspberry, red raspberry
  • Soil Requirements: Acidic Soil, Loamy Soil, Sandy Soil
  • Growth Rate: Medium growth rate.
  • Pruning: Thin fruiting canes in late Winter or early Spring before they start to grow. Remove all weak canes and thin the strong canes so they are 4 - 6 inches apart over the width of the row; narrow rows if necessary to 15 - 18 inches wide.
  • Foliage: Dark green foliage.
  • Comments: New primocane fruiting red raspberry released by North Carolina State University. Qualities are: late harvest season and large berry size. High- quality fruit can be harvested later into the Fall with Nantahala than with other primocane fruiters on the market. In Cherokee, 'Nantahala' means 'land of the midday sun'. Thorny canes- although just small spines at the base of the canes.
