  • Botanical Name: Allium sativum
  • Height: 5 inches.
  • Spacing: 2 - 4 inches in rows 6 inches apart.
  • Depth: Divide bulbs into cloves and set 1 - 2 inches deep; plant flat side down.
  • Light Required: Full sun.
  • Fruit: Each bulb contains 7 - 10 thin-skinned, pink-streaked cloves that are easy to peel.
  • Zone: 3 - 9.
  • Soil Requirements: Well-drained, loose, organic soil.
  • Growth Rate: Fast growth rate.
  • Comments: Gourmet best-seller! Superb classic rich flavor. Easy-to-peel. Keeps well, 4 - 6 months. Large brown-red cloves (8 - 12 per bulb). Outer wrapper varies, cream to deep purple stripes. During curing many bulbs lose their stems.
