Choosing the Right Type of Cherry Tomato
When selecting cherry tomatoes to grow, color and flavor are often top considerations. Because they are often used in salads, red cherry tomatoes are quite popular, adding brilliant color to salads and relish trays. Like other tomatoes, cherry tomatoes are available in other hues, too.
Most cherry tomato plants grow in zones 3-9. However, some varieties may grow in zone 10, and some may not be suitable for zone 3.
Other factors to consider when buying cherry tomato seeds and plants are their disease resistance and if they are determinate or indeterminate plants. While indeterminate cherry tomato plants produce fruits over a long harvest season, the plants can grow quite large and require staking.
