Pinkeye Purplehull BVR Pea Seed

Most widely grown Southern pea variety.

  • 8-inch long pods
  • 9-11 seeds per pod
  • Plants don't require staking
Productive plants and flavorful seeds make Pinkeye Purplehull BVR Pea a favorite among Southern gardeners. The plants produce 8-inch long, dark purple pods that contain 9-11, kidney-shaped seeds with maroon colored eyes. The seeds, also called cowpeas or crowder peas, have a wonderful nutty flavor and are excellent cooked fresh or dried for later use. Because the pods on Pinkeye Purplehull turn dark purple when the peas are mature, it makes it easy to determine the proper picking time. 80 DAYS.
