In midsummer, flower spikes with trumpet-shaped florets are borne in double rows. They're excellent cut flowers.  Growing 3-4 ft. tall with sword-like foliage, gladiolus can be grown in garden borders or containers. They perform best when planted in full sun to partial shade.
