Rich, aromatic and garden-fresh—this savory garlic herb butter is a quick and easy way to elevate fresh bread, grilled veggies, steak or corn on the cob. We like to use the herbs below, but feel to mix and match your favorite Gurney’s herbs to give this recipe your own twist!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves Gurney’s garlic, finely minced (or roasted for a sweeter flavor)
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped
- 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves, stripped from stems
- ½ tsp fresh rosemary, minced
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
- Optional: zest of ½ lemon for brightness
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and minced garlic. Mix until fully incorporated.
- Add in chopped herbs, salt and pepper. If using lemon zest, fold that in as well.
- Mix thoroughly using a spatula or fork until everything is evenly distributed.
- Spoon the butter mixture onto a piece of parchment or plastic wrap. Shape into a log and twist the ends to seal.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before using to let the flavors blend.
Serving Suggestions:
- Slather on warm bread straight from the oven
- Melt over grilled vegetables or fresh sweet corn
- Finish steaks or roasted chicken with a thick pat of butter, just before serving
- Toss with cooked pasta or steamed potatoes
