Southern Grove Hydrangea

Not sure which hydrangeas perform well in the South? Gurney's offers an exceptional assortment of hedges, shrubs, and perennials that thrive in Zones 7, 8, 9 and 10—and hydrangeas are no exception. Several hydrangea varieties grow well in the Southern United States due to the region's warm climate. Oakleaf hydrangea are wonderfully suited to hot and humid conditions and show off tall panicles of flowers before an autumnal foliage display—even in places that don't freeze. And, while some varieties of bigleaf (macrophyla) hydrangeas may struggle with the hot Southern sun, there are heat-tolerant cultivars available. Climbing hydrangeas, arborescens hydrangeas, and others also show off in Southern climes.
