Meet the muscadine that earns its heroic name. Bred and developed by Gurney’s and our renowned muscadine breeder, Jeff Bloodworth, SuperHero™ represents a remarkable step forward in muscadine eating quality. It brings together the rich flavor and aroma of a classic bronze muscadine with exceptional sweetness, truly seedless fruit and a thin, tender skin that changes the whole fresh-eating experience.
Muscadines are grapes native to the United States, naturally at home in the heat and humidity of the South and Southeast. Their natural resilience to many of the disease pressures that challenge other grapes also makes muscadines one of the best choices for gardeners who want to grow grapes organically in humid, disease-prone regions.
Golden-bronze fruits reach an impressive 20-plus Brix, but sweetness is only part of what sets SuperHero™ apart. Bite into one and you’ll discover juicy fruit with a remarkably tender texture—without the thick skin and seeds traditionally associated with muscadines. The result is an eating quality we believe is unmatched by any muscadine available today. It’s the kind of fruit quality you simply won’t find in the grocery aisle.
SuperHero™ earns its keep in the garden, too. Large clusters can hold up to 21 grapes, and established vines can produce an impressive 50–70 lbs. of fruit under good growing conditions and care. Enjoy the harvest straight from the vine, or put that abundance to work in preserves, juice and homemade wine.
For gardeners in zones 8b and warmer, there’s even more to enjoy: an extended harvest that can continue from late summer until nearly frost. Sweet, seedless, exceptionally tender and remarkably productive, SuperHero™ isn’t simply an improved muscadine—it sets a new standard for what a muscadine can be.
