For an extra-long season of charmingly elegant blooms, try Samaritan Jo Clematis. This unique, and somewhat compact, variety is perfect for adding vertical interest, natural beauty and a dash of color to the landscape or flower garden. Subtle silvery-pink blooms are edged in purple and appear with regularity from late spring until the early weeks of fall. Samaritan Jo grows and flowers best in partial shade, so it works quite well near a stand of trees or in a large pot that can be moved out of direct sunlight. Provide a trellis, arbor or obelisk for the 6-8 ft. vine to climb and you'll be enchanted by the results. Blooms best on old wood, so prune only to maintain healthy stems.
