Product Description
- Blooms later and harvests later, avoiding frost and maturing in mid-September
- Young buds are also cold-hardy—unexpected frosts won’t ruin your crop!
- Exceptional balance of sweet and tangy flavor
- Large, round freestone fruits with 3 in. diameter
- Requires 1,050 “chill hours” at temps 32-45° F for optimal yields
- No pollinator needed
- Good resistance to bacterial leaf spot
North Carolina is one of the top producers of peaches in the country, but for years growers were thwarted by unexpected frosts while trees were flowering, ruining their whole crop. So, researchers at NC State University’s esteemed peach breeding program worked for nearly 10 years to develop the late-flowering, cold-hardy cultivar Carolina Gold. Now, if you live in the northern U.S., you can grow peaches without fear of frost!
Large, freestone fruits have a wonderful tangy-sweet taste that stands out above the rest. Firm, orange-y flesh stays vibrant after slicing—no immediate, unsightly browning. High bud count requires heavy pruning during years with fewer spring frosts, especially if you want fruits to top out at a hefty, 3-in. diameter. Variety shows good resistance to bacterial leaf spot and does not need a pollinator. Requires 1,050 chill hours at 32-45° F temps for optimal yield. Freestone. Zones 4-8. PP17780.
