- Stores well for several months
- Adaptable to range of conditions
A favorite among home gardeners, Nuisseiki Asian Pear produces plenty of medium-sized fruits with thin yellow-green skins. The sweet fruit has a juicy, creamy white flesh and is good for eating fresh, canning or freezing. Also called apple pears, Asian pears can ripen on the tree and do not require a ripening period at room temperature. This variety stores very well, often until the end of December—and some say the flavor improves with storage. The fruits ripen from late July through mid-August. The trees require 400 chill hours and have a fireblight rating of 2. Zones 5-8.
