Fruity Twist Lemonade

A bright, refreshing drink with sweet strawberries, zesty lemon and a hint of aromatic basil—perfect for spring and summer. Have a recent harvest of other fruits on hand instead of strawberries? You can easily swap those in too!
Ingredients (Serves 4)
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 8–10 fresh basil leaves
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (4–6 lemons)
- ½ c. to ¾ c. sugar, to taste
- 3–4 cups cold water
- Ice
- Optional: lemon slices and extra basil for garnish
Instructions:
- In a pitcher, gently mash strawberries and basil leaves to release flavor. You want to release juices from the fruit and oils from your herbs, not pulverize or mash completely.
- Add lemon juice and sugar, stirring until sugar dissolves completely.
- Add water, mix well and adjust sweetness as desired.
- Strain for a smoother texture, or leave unstrained for a fresh, rustic style.
- To serve, pour over ice and garnish with lemon slices and basil.

Or with raspberries for bright, tangy-sweet flavor.

- Strain if desired to remove seeds
Peach Basil Lemonade
Or for a sweeter twist, with peaches!
