Advice from Niles

  • Like many perennials, the rose shrub will take some time to establish in its first year. You can expect it to reach its full size in year two or three. 
  • Sweet Hips® Rugosa Rose is a great choice for people who like to use rose hips to make jam, flavor teas, or more—the hips are larger than just about any other rose variety, and they are naturally very sweet, which means you can use less sugar for any culinary uses. 
  • Asparagus is also a perennial plant, and it will need at least a year to be established. Plan for one full year of growth before you harvest.
