Developed by the University of Minnesota, this is one of the best-tasting, sweetest, cold-hardy apples that we've found. Sweet Sixteen is super sweet with a richly complex flavor—similar to vanilla with just a hint of molasses and fine bourbon. It's a taste-treat like no other. It's a delight for snacking, fruit salads and no-sugar added applesauce. The medium-sized apples are attractive, too. Their yellow skins are striped in bright reddish-pink hues. Sweet Sixteen Apple Tree is extra hardy and long-lived even in harsh conditions. Best pollinators include Golden Delicious, Honeycrisp, Gala, Nova Spy, Crunch-A-Bunch, Baker's Delight, and Rubinette. Ripens in mid-September. Zones 3-6.
Now available in Reachables size! A Reachables tree produces full-sized fruits on a smaller tree. It's easier to fit into your garden or orchard, even a container will do fine! Thanks to state-of-the-art rootstock technology, these trees remain manageable throughout their life cycle, so a single person can prune, spray, net and harvest the tree, all while standing on the ground. No ladders required! Note: Because the full-sized fruits grow on smaller sized trees, Reachables require a tree support.
NOTE: We are unable to ship our trees to PO Boxes at this time.
