Red Burgundy Onion

Top Sandwich Onion for the South

A top choice for those who like their sandwich onions a little less sweet and with a little more kick. Produces large, flattened, 3-4 in. globes that are great on hamburgers, salads and sandwiches. The glossy red skin and white flesh with light red rings make this a very attractive onion too. Stores for 4-6 weeks. A short-day onion, it begins forming bulbs when daylight lasts 10-12 hours. Often, short-day onions are the best for eating raw and in salads or lightly cooked in salsas and stir-fries. They often do not store as well as long-day varieties. Because summer daylight hours are shorter in the South, short-day onions are most often grown in the South. Red Burgundy Onion grows best in zones 8-9. 165 DAYS.

For each offer ordered, get approx. 150 seeds per pkt. Pkt.
