  • Botanical Name: Zea mays 'Pencil Cob'
  • Spacing: 10 - 12 inches between plants; 30 - 36 inches between rows.

  • Soil Requirements: Deep, rich, well-drained loam soil.
  • Seed Count: Each ounce is approximately 110 seeds. 250 seeds per packet.
  • Comments: it gets its name from the fact that the cobs are not much bigger in diameter than a pencil. Although most companies simply state that it is a white corn, the color of the kernels are actually a dingy white color with a yellowish hue and tips that pick up a reddish tinge from the cob's coloring. Stands dry weather well. It has a very hearty corn flavor that is missing in most modern corns.
