This makes it affordable to tackle larger areas. Planted about a foot apart, they will quickly spread to fill an open area or stabilize a steep bank. They are not fussy about their soil conditions and are hardy even in extreme northern regions (to Zone 3). They thrive practically anywhere! This species of daylily produces clumps of grass-like foliage, sturdy 24-30 in. tall stems and bright orange flowers 4-5 in. across. They bloom in summer, sometimes sporadically until frost.
