  • Botanical Name: Helianthus maximilliani
  • Height: 3 - 10 feet. Stout upright
  • Spacing: 2 - 3 feet.
  • Depth: Plant so the crown is below soil level.
  • Spread: 3 - 4 feet.
  • Light Required: Full sun
  • Color: Yellow blossoms with golden yellow to brown centers.
  • Foliage: Leaves are 4 - 8 inches long, tapering at both ends, dark green.
  • Blooms: Mid summer to frost.
  • Zone: 3 - 9 (-40 degrees F)
  • Form: Herbaceous perennial, upright.
  • Flower Form: 2 - 3 inch daisy-like flowers.
  • Soil Requirements: Well-drained soil that is not too fertile.
  • Growth Rate: Fast growth rate.
  • Pruning: If you pinch off the growing tips when they are 3-4 feet tall you will get a shorter plant with more flowers.
