  • Mild, garlic-like flavor
  • Easy to peel
  • Excellent storage variety
Known for its impressive size and mild, yet delicious, flavor, elephant garlic bulbs are an essential addition to your garden! While it looks and tastes like a mild harneck type, it is actually a type of leek. This plump plant produces bulbs that commonly weigh a pound or more, averaging about 4-7 cloves per bulb.

Your elephant garlic seeds should be planted in early spring or fall. If the bulbs are planted in spring, expect to harvest them at the end of the same season, about 3 months after planting. If your elephant garlic bulbs are planted in the fall, expect a longer growth period and a harvest after ~240 days. This variety of garlic is easy to cultivate, needing loose, organic, and well-drained soil and full sunlight for the duration of it's growth.

Once you harvest elephant garlic, how can you use it in the kitchen? Many love it as a garnish for dips and sauces, like a roasted garlic salad dressing, or even a roasted elephant garlic soup!
