  • Botanical Name: Iris germanica 'Breakers'
  • Height: 37"
  • Spacing: 15 - 18"
  • Depth: Set rhizome so bottom half is below ground level. Firm well and water thoroughly. Plant where they will get at least 5 hours of sun per day
  • Spread: 15 - 18"
  • Sun/Shade: Full Sun;Half Sun / Half Shade
  • Color: Medium blue
  • Foliage: Glaucous-green, sword-like fans of stiff upright leaves with some dying back in colder climates in winter
  • Blooms: Mid spring, re-blooms late summer to early fall
  • Flower Form: 41/2-5" flowers are fan-shaped, with three drooping petals called falls and three upright petals called standards.
  • Soil Requirements: Well drained preferred. Quite tolerant of a wide range of soils
  • Growth Rate: Medium
  • Pruning: Remove spent flower stems after blooming. In late fall, cut back foliage to 6" fans. Clean plant debris before winter to prevent borers overwintering
  • Size: 4 1/2" pot
  • Comments: Lilac-like, large, dense, rounded, conical clusters up to 10 inches long at branch tips only. Creamy white margin; new leaves are yellow and age to white. Has shrub form. Prune to shape and limit size in the early spring. Blooms on new wood. Plant may die back down to the ground in Northern sites but will regrow and bloom heavily in the late summer. Distinctive flower color, attractive, creamy, variegated leaves, and a more compact habit than other varieties.
