Large fruits produce plenty of juice loaded with antioxidants. The pink-skinned fruits are blushed with red and often weigh 1 lb. or more. The red to dark red flavor sacs produce sweet juice with a bare hint of tartness and a superior flavor. Austin Pomegranate's juice content is about 1 ½ times as much as Wonderful. The vigorous plants grow 8-12 ft. tall and make an attractive ornamental. Austin Pomegranate came from Syria via an immigrant living in Austin, Texas. Harvest fruits in early October. Cold hardy to zone 7b/8a.
