Depth: Plant in an open but not exposed site to help protect against strong Winter winds and deep freezing that may damage the early blooms.

Sun/Shade: Full sun to partial shade.

Color: Golden yellow blossoms.

Foliage: Broadly oval to obovate medium green leaves up to 6 inches long.

Blooms: Late Winter to very early Spring for 2 - 3 weeks.

Form: Deciduous shrub.

Flower Form: Spider-like bloom clusters made up of several narrow petals.

Soil Requirements: Moderately fertile, well drained soil that is slightly acidic to neutral.

Growth Rate: Moderate to fast growth rate.

Pruning: To maintain a smaller size or shape, prune after flowering.

Comments: Exceptionally fragrant blooms in very early Spring. A more than welcome site after a long Winter under a blanket of white snow. Plant as a large shrub or small tree where you can enjoy the sweet fragrance while in bloom. The gentle lleaves will provide shade during the Summer months. The leaves turn a golden-yellow for a warm Fall color.
