Pole Bean Seeds
As with other vegetables, site selection is important to successfully grow pole beans. Pole bean seeds should be grown in full sun (at least 6-8 hours of direct sunlight daily). What Are Pole Beans
Pole beans, sometimes called vine beans or green beans, have a vining habit and often grow 6 ft. tall. They require a trellis or support. Some gardeners plant pole beans as a companion to sweet corn because sweet corn stalks provide a natural support. Because of their climbing habit, pole beans often take up less space than bush beans, which have a rounded, bushy habit. Pole beans are also easy to pick.
Some pole beans are eaten as snap beans (the pods and small seeds are eaten). Other pole beans are grown for shelling beans and for dried beans that can be stored.

How to Plant Pole Bean Seeds
Pole bean seeds are planted about 1 inch deep and about 4 inches apart. Planting time is also the best time to set up a trellis or support system for the bean plants.
When to Plant Pole Bean Seeds
Pole bean plants thrive in warm weather, and bean seeds can be directly sown into the garden when the soil has warmed. If the soil is cold and wet, the Pole bean seeds are less likely to germinate.
How to Grow Pole Beans
Once Pole bean seeds germinate, the plants need about 1 inch of water weekly. Also, control the weeds around the plants. Mulching helps control weeds and retain moisture in the ground. Inspect the plants for signs of insect damage. Gurney's offers several pest control products.
When to Pick Pole Beans
Snap pole beans are most tender when picked before the seeds cause the pods to bulge. Shelling beans are harvested when the pods become thin but are not dried out. For dried beans, allow the pods and beans inside to dry out.
