Product Details

  • Botanical Name: Aesculus glabra
  • Height: 40 - 70 feet.
  • Spacing: 20 - 30 feet.
  • Depth: Plant even with the top of the root mass.
  • Spread: 30 - 40 feet.
  • Sun/Shade: Full Sun
  • Color: Yellow flowers.
  • Foliage: Palmately compound, long and broad leaves. Bright green maturing to rich dark green.
  • Blooms: April - May
  • Fruit: Produces large seeds. Not for human consumption. Wildlife including squirrels, wild turkey and deer will eat the seed.
  • Form: Deciduous.
  • Flower Form: 4 - 7 inch flower clusters. Prickly, leathery husk surrounding a smooth, shiny brown seed, sometimes multiple seeds.
  • Soil Requirements: Deep, moist yet well-drained, acid soil.
  • Growth Rate: Medium growth rate, approximately 1 - 2 feet per year.
