Botanical Name: Allium cepa 'Lilia Red'
Spacing: 1-2 inches apart in rows 12-18 inches apart. After seedling grow 2" tall, thin so plants are 2-4" apart.
Depth: Plant the seeds 1/4 inch deep
Spread: 3-5 in.
Sun/Shade: Full sun
Fruit: Deep red bulbs, with red and white rings.
Days To Maturity: 130 days, but can be harvested early for its small bulbs and green tops.
Soil Requirements: Prefer rich, deeply cultivated well drained soil
Comments: Dual purpose Italian variety. Fantastic as a spring (or bunching) onion, with dark green leaves and deep red bulbs- crisp texture and peppery flavor. A great way to add color to a green salad. Bulbs can also be left to grow to maturity as main crop onions, with great storage capability.
