Height: 18 - 36 inches.
Spacing: 18-24 inches.
Depth: Plant crown 1-2 inches below the soil surface.
Sun/Shade: Full sun to partial shade.
Foliage: Dies back in the Fall.
Blooms: Mid to late Summer for 3-4 weeks.
Flower Form: 1/2 inch florets on 5-6 inch panicles.
Soil Requirements: Moist, well-drained, fertile soil.
Growth Rate: Slow first season while establishing, moderate thereafter.
Comments: Mix generous amounts of peat moss, compost or well-rotted manure, into the soil. Protect from wind. Keep soil moist; mulch to help retain moisture. Feed with a 5-10-5 monthly until after blooming. Remove faded flower clusters. Very fragrant blossoms are great for cut flowers. Divide root clumps every 3-4 years to keep plants thriving. Replant in new location after division to keep plants healthy. Cut back to ground before new growth appears in Spring. May require staking. Disease resistant. Attracts butterflies.
