Golden Delicious Apple Tree Product Details

Botanical Name: Malus X 'Golden Delicious'

Height: 20 feet.

Spacing: 18 feet - 20 feet.

Depth: Graft 1 - 2 inches above soil.

Spread: 18 feet.

Sun/Shade: Full sun,

Pollinator: Jonathan, GoldRush, Sweet 16 (in Northern districts).

Yield: 5 - 10 bushels at maturity.

Color: White.

Foliage: Deep green foliage.

Blooms: April.

Fruit: Large, golden yellow fruit; firm, juicy, crisp and flavorful.

Form: Rounded.

Soil Requirements: Well drained moist soil with good organic matter.

Growth Rate: 1 - 2 feet per year.

Pruning: Prune December to February. There are normally two goals when pruning an apple tree: 1. Initially on young trees to encourage a strong, solid framework 2. On mature trees to maintain shape and encourage fruit production. The best time to prune apple trees is in late Winter or very early Spring before any new growth starts.

Comments: Mild, sweet flavor. Should be stored in plastic bags in refrigeration to prevent shriveling.
