Fuji Apple Tree Product Details

Botanical Name: Malus 'Fuji'

Height: 17 - 20 feet.

Spacing: 20 feet.

Depth: Graft union 2" above soil.

Spread: 20 feet.

Sun/Shade: Full sun.

Pollinator: A mid-season blooming apple, (Whitney Crab, Gala, GoldRush).

Yield: 8 - 12 bushels at maturity.

Color: Pink to white.

Foliage: Dark green leathery foliage; requires annual pruning.

Blooms: Mid- late Spring.

Fruit: Yellowish flesh, sweet and fruity; 100 - 400 chill hours.

Form: Spreading.

Soil Requirements: Well drained soil with organic matter.

Growth Rate: Medium growth rate.

Pruning: Prune December to February. There are normally two goals when pruning an apple tree: 1. Initially on young trees to encourage a strong, solid framework 2. On mature trees to maintain shape and encourage fruit production. The best time to prune apple trees is in late Winter or very early Spring before any new growth starts.

Comments: Need 160 growing days to ripen properly. Flesh is yellow-green, sweet fruity, slightly aromatic, subacid and very pleasant. Average size fruit, yellowish skin with orange-red blush with dark stripes, darker blush on sun side. Heat resistant.
