Prolific and delicious, Fort Laramie Everbearing Strawberries (Fragaria ananassa'Fort Laramie') produce piles of huge berries with firm, dark pink to scarlet flesh. Plants have rich green foliage and produce small white flowers. They are 8 to 10 inches tall and have an 8- to 12-inch spread. These are the some of the hardiest everbearing strawberries available; they'll withstand temperatures as low as -30 degrees Fahrenheit. Each self-pollinating perennial plant produces one to two pints of large, juicy berries.

Place these everbearing strawberry plants 12 to 24 inches apart in moist, well-drained sandy loam. Soil should be slightly acidic. Plant crowns should be placed just below ground level. These strawberries prefer full sun locations, and do well in hardiness zones 3 to 7.

Fort Laramie everbearing strawberries are delicious straight off the plant, but you can also use these juicy berries in classic recipes like strawberry-rhubarb pie and strawberry shortcake. Try dipping a few of these beautiful berries in melted chocolate to create an elegant and romantic treat. You can also add fresh or frozen strawberries to smoothies, or use them in home-made ice cream. Enjoy the sweet flavor and bright scarlet color of fresh berries throughout the growing season when you plant these everbearing strawberry plants in your garden.

These strawberries are amazingly sweet and great to eat right out of the garden. Good producers. Unfortunately, they don't store well. I'm counting on my old strawberry patch for jelly and freezing.
