Velvety, crimson flowers have bright gold stamens and put on quite a show in the garden! Low, spreading habit growing just 2-3 ft. tall with a 4-to 5- ft. spread. Looks great in the front of flowerbeds. Blooms from late winter to early spring and attracts butterflies. Potted plants. Zones 4-7.

Crimson & Gold Flowering Quince Product Details

Botanical Name: Chaenomeles x superba 'Crimson and Gold' (Hybrid)

Height: 2 - 3 feet.

Spacing: 5 feet.

Depth: Plant at same depth as it is in the shipping pot.

Spread: 4 - 5 feet.

Sun/Shade: Full Sun to partial shade.

Color: Deepest crimson.

Foliage: The simple leaves emerge slightly bronze in Spring and turn dark green as the season progresses.

Blooms: Late Winter - early Spring.

Fruit: Edible, yellow-green, apple-shaped fruits ripen in the Fall and may be made into preserves or jelly. Birds also enjoy the fruits.

Form: Spreading, rounded.

Flower Form: Loads of fragrant bowl-shaped flowers with conspicuous golden-yellow anthers inside.

Soil Requirements: Rich, moist, but well-drained soil, Neutral to alkaline.

Growth Rate: Medium growth rate.

Pruning: Prune to shape after flowering.
