Cranberry Swirl Iris Product Details

Botanical Name: Iris germanica 'Cranberry Swirl'

Height: 37"

Spacing: 12 - 24"

Depth: Set rhizomes so bottom half is below ground level. Firm well and water thoroughly.

Spread: 12 - 24"

Sun/Shade: Full Sun/Partial Shade

Color: Bright pink standards and rich raspberry-rose on the falls, edged by a distinct band that repeats the pink color of the standards.

Foliage: Glaucous-green, sword-like fans of stiff upright leaves in spring and summer with some die back in winter in colder climates.

Blooms: Mid Iris season, 2-3 weeks.

Form: Rhizomatous perennial

Flower Form: Classic iris form, ruffled.

Soil Requirements: Perfers well drained soil, but is tolerant of a wide range of soils. At least 5 hours of sun each day.

Growth Rate: Fast once established, which takes approximately 4-6 weeks.

Pruning: Late fall to early winter. Remove spent flower stems. Cut back foliage to 6" fans in late fall.

Comments: A new Iris chosen for its gorgeous, clear coloring. Absolutely stunning combined with blue! The blooms are a nice, large size, and display their velvety colors on broad, ruffled petals very much in the modern look.
