Coriander / Cilantro Seed

Tex-Mex Flavoring

  • Cilantro leaves used for salsas and Tex-Mex dishes
  • Coriander seeds used as spice for meats, beans and other foods
  • Easy-to-grow plant
A true seasoning superstar, this plant's leaves, called cilantro, add a fresh, zesty flavor to salsas and Tex-Mex recipes, while its seeds, called coriander, are used as a spice for meats and other dishes. Cilantro/coriander is an easy-to-grow, sun-loving plant that reaches 16 in. tall. Its white flowers open above the foliage. While pruning the leaves frequently delays bolting, this short-lived herb bolts more quickly than other herbs. Because of this, most gardeners plant cilantro/coriander at intervals throughout the growing season so they have a steady supply of this tasty herb.
