A 100 foot row will yield about 150 pounds of delicious snap beans.

Plant Blue Lake pole beans (Phaseolus vulgaris 'Blue Lake') 6 inches apart at a depth of 1 1/2 inches after the danger of frost has passed. Space rows 48 inches apart. These climbing annual plants must be staked and will reach a height of 5 to 6 feet. They prefer rich, well-drained soil with a pH of 6 to 6.8 and full sun. They can be planted in hardiness zones 3 to 9.

Blue Lake pole beans produce consistently-sized beans that are ideal for canning or freezing. Of course you don't want to neglect your summer table either. Prepare a quick and easy side dish by steaming or sauteing these delicious beans with a touch of butter, or add them to your favorite stir fry dish. They also work well in soups or the classic green bean casserole. Add Blue Lake pole green beans to your garden and harvest a bountiful crop that can be enjoyed throughout the year.

Great Producer

I bought these for the first time last year, as a new grower to pole beans. They were awesome. I only planted 5 seeds for our house of two. We had plenty of beans for the whole summer. Long juicy beans with great color and flavor.

Lots of Beans!
Reviewed By: Kris (Minnetonka, MN)
Despite the efforts of Japanese Beetles, these beans did very well. I planted them so they would climb the garden fence, and they are still producing lots of beans in September. I made green bean pickles, froze them, and ate them right off the vine. Delicious, not stringy, and versatile.
