Apple Blossom Mix Tulip Product Details

Botanical Name: Tulipa; Family: Liliaceae (Lily Family)

Height: 20-24 inches

Spacing: 3-6 inches

Depth: Plant pointed end up; top of bulb 6 inches deep

Spread: 4" - 6"

Sun/Shade: Sun, especially in the morning; likes evening shade

Color: Mixture of shades from pastel to deep pink

Foliage: Gray-green, linear or broadly ovate. Dies back after blooming

Blooms: Mid-late spring for 1-3 weeks

Flower Form: Upright, bell or funnel shaped.

Soil Requirements: Well-drained, loose, porous; add peat, sand if needed

Growth Rate: Should grow to full height and bloom first year

Seed Count: 25 bulbs

Pruning: It is important to let the foliage mature and die down naturally, do not cut back. Next year's bloom is being developed

Comments: Water well for 6-8 weeks at temperatures below 40 degrees F after planting. Mix peat moss, compost, or well-rotted manure into the soil to improve drainage. Mix in bonemeal or superphosphate at planting. Feed with a 5-10-5 fertilizer in subsequent falls and as growth emerges in the spring. Remove flowers as they fade. Lift bulbs every 3-4 years after foliage dies and separate bulblets. Replant immediately or store in a cool place over the summer to replant in the fall. The bulblets may be planted like the parents but may not bloom until it matures in 2-3 seasons.
