Not sure but think this tress is about 8 yrs. old. Not very large, maybe 15 feet and not very big. Had a few blossoms and a few apples 2 yrs ago. Last year had 9 apples. This year the tree is absolutely loaded. They are large and very good already! Cedar rust is very prevalent here but Sundance and Liberty are doing well. Would definitely recommend this variety but you do have to be patient.

grow fast

When I received the dwarf tree I called it my "apple stick" rather than a tree because it was literally a 3-4 ft. stick with NO branches and the top was even cut off. HOWEVER, three months later it has DOUBLED in size and has developed lots of branches. It seems disease resistant so far as everything else in my garden has some kind of disease. It has now earned the title of "apple tree" and I am happy with my purchase. Don't be alarmed when you receive the tree initially.

Good for rust but bad for rot
Reviewed By: Jon (Cobden, Il)
I have a 5 year old Sundance tree which beared for the first time this year. It has perfect resistance to cedar rust as noted by rust on my other trees. It produced large apples with a good crisp taste. The only bad part I lost several apples to a Rot disease. I used the generic fruit tree spray ever 7-10 days. Will probably need a different kind of spray to fight the rot.

still waiting to see the blooms
Reviewed By: Jessica (Denver, CO)
I ordered a Lil Big Pixie Crunch and Sundance three seasons ago. I had a couple of apples last year on the Pixie Crunch and this year it was covered in blooms. I am still waiting to see a bloom on the Sundance which is nearby. I was under the impression by year 3 I might have some apples- or at least some blooms. Otherwise the tree seems very health and is nicer looking that the Pixie. But I am disappointed.

One of the Best Apples Ever!
Reviewed By: Laura (Brentwood, TN)
This truly is an awesome apple. My 3 yr old tree produced loads of delicious apples last year. They are very crisp, hang well on the tree, and are fabulous to eat fresh or cooked. We had rave reviews at a church dinner when we brought fried Sundance apples. Many asked where they could buy these apples. They thought these were better than Cracker Barrels fried apples! Cedar rust has not been much of an issue even though we have a 50 ft cedar tree in the front yard. This tree is much more disease resistant than 2 other varieties that I have. You really won't be sorry if you grow this tree-it will be a favorite!

Quick Start
Reviewed By: Sumar (Memphis, TN)
I have a small yard and ordered Lil Big Pixie Crunch, Sundance and Liberty apple trees. The plants arrives much bigger and sturdier than the twigs I would expect to get from an online nursery. About a week after I planted them, the Pixie crunch and Liberty just exploded with both leaves and blossoms and the Sundance had buds all over but is taking longer to leaf out. These trees are excited to grow, and I am thrilled at how little effort has been required on my part to get them up to speed. I expected to have to nurture them and prod them, but so far so good. We'll see how they do from here.

Disease Resistant
Reviewed By: Todd (Raymond, NE)
My parents have a two year old sundance tree and I planted one this last spring. Cedar apple rust has affected some varieties on our yards, but sundance shows no sign of cedar apple rust on either of our sundance trees. Mine is planted close to a windbreak of cedars and still shows no sign of cedar apple rust! There are many cedar trees in our area, so cedar apple rust is a concern here, as evidenced by some other varieties I have. The varieties I have that show excellent resistance to cedar apple rust include sundance, liberty, and wolf river (a HUGE apple). Our sundance apple trees are too young to bear fruit yet, so I might be giving it a five star rating too soon, but I could not help but notice it's excellent disease resistance.
