Top Hat Patio Blueberries
Not only Delicious, but Good for You too!
Imagine harvesting delicious, healthful blueberries
right outside your door! Attractive and
compact, only 20-30" tall, perfect for growing
in a pot on your patio. Great in the landscape
too! Loaded with clusters of white blooms in the
spring followed by a mid- to late-summer crop of
tasty blueberries. Top Hat’s rich sweet berries
are perfect for all your favorite treats; muffins,
pancakes and pies! Blue-green leaves turn an
attractive shade of red in the fall. Hardy, carefree
plants are resistant to most pests and diseases.
Potted plants. This item ships only in the spring.

Product Details
Zones: 3 - 8 (-30° F.) Height: 24 inches. Depth: Set at the same level it is growing at in the container, or same depth as nursery on bare root plants. Firm well and water thoroughly. Sun/Shade: Full sun to partial shade. Pollinator: No pollinator required to set fruit, but another variety could certainly improve fruit set and size. Color: White Foliage: Glossy, dark blue-green simple elliptical 1-2 inches long and half as wide. Blooms: Mid Spring.
| Comments: White late Spring blooms set the scene for the mid to late Summer crop of delicious 1/2 inch berries. Blue-green leaves turn fiery red in Autumn. Shrub grows 24 inches high and wide with a mounding habit. Hardy, carefree. Developed by Michigan State University , the plant was named for it's neat, very dense growth. This mound shaped shrub is an ideal specimen to be used in place of flowering shrubs in the ornamental landscape plan. This practically maintenance free plant is loaded with white flowers in Spring, has glossy blue-green leaves in the Summer, and then tops the Fall off with fiery red fall color that rivals or exceeds Burning Bush in intensity. The fruit is perfect for fresh eating, jams, or baking. Top Hat also makes a wonderful container patio plant, that will produce fruit and be quite decorative. Also makes an excellent bonsai subject. I fertilized the first two years with the blueberry plant food, but nothing since. The first year they really bloomed was 2009, but the birds got to the berries before I did, so the next year I covered them with bird netting and it worked like a charm. Since we have had an abundance of berries.
