Super-sweet “sugar-type” pear with a rich, spicy flavor and exceptional quality. One of the few that is self-pollinating—does not need another variety for good fruiting. Keeps well in storage; ripens late August. Zones 5-8.

Height: semi-dwarf - 12-15 ft Standard - 15-25 ft
Spacing: 15' minimum
Depth: Graft of bud union should be just above the soil line. Look for plant depth indicator.
Sun/Shade: Sun
Pollinator: One of the few self pollinating pear trees.
Blooms: Early to Mid Season
Fruit: Medium size brown-russet in color with a super sweet/complex and aromatic flavor.
Comments: Introduced in 1977 from Purdue, this is a very high quality Seckel or sugar pear. No fruit thinning required and it does not have premature fruit drop. Good storage ability.

Took off like a rocket!

Got this on a whim... Special reduced price... Planted it with liquid fertilzer and some Home Depot Shrub & Tree Soil. Soaked it good every other evening... Started budding out within a week. It's growing strong!

Honey sweet pear tree

When I received this tree in the mail, I was worried because it was a stick with bare roots! But in about 6 weeks time it is covered with healthy leaves and has doubled in size. Can't wait to see it bloom!
