They seemed slow to reach a harvestable size, but we were still able to get two crops of it this year - one early and one late. Very sweet and tender. Will definitely grow this again. - Friday, July 29, 2011The sweetist carrots I have ever grown! Reviewed By: Celie (Tickfaw, Louisians) These carrots stay tender no matter how large they get. I grew these this year, because my granddaughter loves corrots and is very picky about which ones she will eat. These were wonderfull, with no woody center and were tender to the last one picked. She came over and picked a basket every week. My daughter said it was the most eaten vegetable around their house this summer and at my house too! We ate them all spring and summer and I froze over 3 gallons for winter use. The yeild was outstanding. It is almost August, with record heat here in LA, and there are still a few in the garden. Lately I have picked carrots a foot long and just as sweet and tender as the ones I picked earlier. I plan on planting a whole 4X16 foot bed next spring and my daughter is putting in a vegetable garden next spring for my granddaughter to grow her own! If you don't grow these, you will never know how sweet and tender carrots can be. I have been gardening 100% organically for almost 40 years and did not get even one insect or split on any of these carrots. I am hooked! - Thursday, November 11, 2010Tendersweet carrots Reviewed By: Tammie (Hayden, Idaho) Over the past 20 years I have grown many different types of carrots, Nantes, Danvers, etc. I have always found that most carrots become less flavorful as they mature. These are the exact opposite. Not terribly flavorful as baby carrots, but the bigger they get, the sweeter they are. My husband likes carrots cooked with brown sugar and with these you can cook them without the sugar and have the same sweet flavor. I will continue to grow these carrots year after year as the yields are phenomenal, and they store very well in a cool shed over the winter. Definitely a favorite Read More Reviews |
