Reviewed By: Quinton (Clinton, Ms) My only regret is that I didn't plant more beds. I have 10 prolific producers from 10 original crowns, and couldn't ask for more. Thank you Gurney's, I'm ordering more now... - Saturday, May 28, 20113 years Reviewed By: Scot McPherson (Le Claire, Iowa) 2 years ago I planted a small asparagus bed of jersey knights from gurneys. This is their third year. The stalks of many crowns now exceed 1 inch in thickness, they are thicker than my thumbs and have pictures to prove it. They don't all shoot this big, but they all certainly break the barrier of what you find in the store. No matter what the literature says, some of the roots will take up to a month to send up the first shoots after planting. Resist the urge to replant the first year, wait until the second to replace any crowns that don't produce sprouts. I usually get about 90% of my crowns productive. Read More Reviews |
