Those woods were cut down to build houses. Today the tree is gorgeous! It is a huge 30+ year old tree that has wonderful, bright green leaves in the spring, perfect rich green in the summer, and nothing tops the reds, oranges and yellows this tree puts out in the fall. The neighborhood is lucky to have it! It makes the best leaf piles too for jumping, since they are huge leaves! The shape of the tree is so full with a strong trunk and branches. I have moved since and look for sugar maples around here in the fall just to look at. I wish I had a yard to plant one!!!! If you have a yard, plant one for the rest of us to see!!!
