Got my red lake currant in the mail about three weeks ago and it has already started shooting out tons of leaves and looks very healthy.

I've ordered these from other companies in the past and had luck with them, usually getting them much MUCH cheaper. I was very excited about getting berries from those plants when the second and third years rolled around. On the second year, I got 2 currants off of one of the 6 plants. Then, we got a really hot and dry summer and a really cold winter and every plant died despite my watering and mulching. The other company would not replace the 3 that were less than a year old without paying shipping and the original bag and paperwork that came with the plant. Needless to say, I didn't get replacements! I was devastated! But, still determined, I tried from Gurneys this year. One of the plants died, but the one left looks very healthy and is already twice the size of the 2 year plants from the other companies. And, Gurneys is replacing the one that died at no cost, so in the end, I think it will actually be cheaper than the other place to get my row started!

I planted 2 of these in 2007. I made alot of jelly last year even after my 2 & 5yr old helped pick (mostly eat) them. The jelly is a hit with the neighbors and great as an ice cream topping for the kids. A few of my neighbors even asked where to get current bushes of their own. Thanks you so much Gurney's.
