color. Plant as a dramatic screen or use to fill
in along north-facing foundations. Towering
form, 5-6 ft. tall. Best planted in full to partial
shade and moist soil. Potted plants. Zone 10. This item ships only in the spring.

Zones: 7 - 10 (10° F.) Height: 5-6 feet Spacing: 4-5 feet Depth: Plant 2 - 4" below soil level. Keep well watered. Best to mulch if not grown in standing water. Spread: 4 - 5 feet Sun/Shade: Full Sun to Partial Shade Foliage: The foliage emerges green then turns black. Huge, oval leaves up to 2' + long and 18" wide. Deep purple-black. Ornamental from mid summer to frost. Blooms: Summer
| Comments: Grown for its beautiful deep, purple, ornamental foliage, which grows up to 2 feet long. In areas that go below 10 degrees F, the rootstock should be dug and over wintered in a frost free location. In future seasons, plant 2 to 4 inches below soil level. Keep well watered, best to mulch if not grown in standing water. Tuber with thick fleshy roots. Great for containers, specimens and water gardens. Elephant ears are heavy feeders. I brought it in this fall, living in the Midwest it is recommended due to the fact that i live in zone 5 . It is still beautiful, It will lose its deep purple color indoor , due to not having direct sunlight.I am pleased with Gurneys and already ,I am shopping from this company for this year 2010. Grows very Quckly & beautiful

I brought this elephant ear plant, last year and was amazed as to how quickly it grew. I brought it in this fall, living in the Midwest it is recommended due to the fact that i live in zone 5 . It is still beautiful, It will lose its deep purple color indoor , due to not having direct sunlight.I am pleased with Gurneys and already ,I am shopping from this company for this year 2010. Very pleased i came across your website.
