Best apple for pies that I have found. Slow to produce but worth every year.

First year growth!

Planted the Nova Spy "stick" in early Summer and didn't expect much this first year. This little tree has sprouted like crazy! I can't wait for the first batch of apples in a year or two. Thank you Gurney's for a great apple tree at a great price!

Just planted this tree (well, it was a 2 1/2 foot "stick") at the end of June 2011. It's now is loaded with leaves and is growing wonderfully. Well worth the money so far. I'll write a new review as things progress, but for now...good job Gurneys!

Flesh is yellow and crisp, quite juicy, skin doesn't get in the way or have any negative flavoring such as red delicious. This apple is very refreshing and has a classic apple taste. It’s a sweet-tart apple type that is best when eaten cold. Small core and stay on tree until over ripe. Better then anything found in stores at this time. It’s not as tart as Granny smiths nor as sweet as a Honey crisp. Easy to grow but has a rather odd look as its limps are lanky as grow wildly in different directions, out of my 15 trees this one has its own look. It has great color that stands out in my yard with its large red apples. Wasn’t sure about this apple as there is not much information on it. However after 4 years of working with it I’m quite glad I purchase it. This apple is very popular in Canada and grows well in cold climates.
