Product review for Hansen's Bush Cherry Overall Rating: ![]() Write an online review and share your thoughts with other customers Sort Reviews: Newest | Oldest | Highest Rating | Lowest Rating :: Viewing page 1 of 4 - Thursday, May 14, 2009Good flavor Reviewed By: Robert Keller (Melvin, Iowa) I planted a row of these in 1993. They eventually got crowded out by evergreens and the rabbits also chewed them off. They were better flavored and larger than the Nanking. I am reordering and will have to find a way to keep the rabbits out, possibly starve the cats during the winter or buy mass quantities of rat poison on sale. - Thursday, June 18, 2009Great sized plants Reviewed By: Candace Suriano (Auburn Hills, MI) I bought three of these this year. They have leaves and look awesome! I could not believe how big they were! Thanks! I am so excited! - Thursday, July 16, 2009Off to a great start Reviewed By: Sandy (Colorado Springs, CO) I planted 3 bushes in June and they've all got leaves and are growing like crazy. I also have the Carmine Jewel cherry and these are much hardier. - Thursday, August 20, 2009awesome taste--extremely hardy--easy to protect from deer Reviewed By: Cheryl (Medina, MN) We have six of these, as well as six Nanking bush cherry. The Nanking get really leafy and set small bright red fruit, with a more acrid flavor---best for jam. These Hansen's are less leafy, putting more energy into the fruit which are much larger and deep red or burgundy, and an exquisite flavor! Hint: cover with chicken wire cages while they are young to protect from deer/bunnies/etc for the mice, a hardware cloth collar around bottom should suffice. No need for poisons! I'm ordering more of these and probably going to shred the Nankings. - Tuesday, September 22, 2009hanson bush cherries Reviewed By: Liz (Leon, West Virginia) I planted three of them this spring. a rabbit cut one off about half way but it was still able to grow and is doing well. I have already picked about a pint of cherries off the other two. I didn't expect to get fruit until next year! |
